LET’S START TALKING

You want your staff to be able to talk about race and identity, right? Here are our top two key strategies to starting these conversations.

WE’RE A TEAM OF DEI FACILITATORS WHO HELP YOU BUILD A CULTURE OF BELONGING IN YOUR ORG.

WHO ARE WE? WHY US?

Lyrica started out facilitating conversations on identity and race as a leader in a network of schools. The challenge was, “How do we get a group of people who are well intentioned, already in their jobs hoping to do good work, to understand that there is more to learn?”

She set out to get these conversations going in 2013 and has learned quite a bit over the last 10 years. Lyrica knows the textbook responses that both white people and BIPOC use to manage their discomfort and the tension that arises from doing this work. As a result, she has learned to make the content feel like it can be discussed and returned to, by even the most hesitant of staff members.

Over time, Lyrica coached and met other facilitators who were grounded in this work. She has teamed up with them to create a diverse group with varying identities, not just around race, but around religion, ability, gender identity and more. Lyrica created Pilon Harlem to be a hub of knowledge and strategies, to help organizations delve into these conversations in ways that feel manageable and build stronger cultures of belonging.

We can help you move forward.

I started taking Pilon workshops through my job, and I was resistant. But now I look forward to them because they are enjoyable and full of connection. -JLK
