Tips and Tools for Virtual Play Therapy with Children

Course description 

We are in a virtual world now and even therapy has entered the computer screen.  This workshop will delve into setting up a virtual therapeutic practice that works for both clinicians and children.. How can we engage and maintain focus with collateral contacts and resistant clients? What are ways to ensure a private space when we can’t control their world outside of the screen? How can we establish and maintain effective boundaries while building strong relationships? This workshop is for clinicians who have tried everything and also beginners who are nervous about where to start in telemental health.

Learning objectives

  • Participants will be able to identify and recall the benefits and therapeutic value underlying the use of virtual therapy.

  • Participants will be able to demonstrate how to integrate virtual techniques into play activities.

  • Participants will be able to demonstrate how to set boundaries for online therapy, assess and diagnose over the computer, and offer treatment for children.

  • Facilitated by Lyrica Fils-Aime LCSW-R, RPT-S 

  • When: Non-Contact / On your own time

  • CREDIT:  3 HOURS / 3 APT CEs

    *non-contact hours are defined as specialized online play therapy trainings where: •there is no live-facilitator interaction, you take the training on your own time and • a post test is required.
